Heart of the Raven Prince

Odette does such a wonderful job of twisting together traditional fairytale feelings into more modern stories. This book really got me right away. I love hidden romances and this one was so fun as Ember and Franco attempt to decipher their feelings through the tangle of half-truths they've been telling each other. It was so fun to watch them decide what could be shared or not. I also liked seeing Franco's point of view and to hear him talk about his ill-fated romance with Evie. I loved finding out that those emotions really were real and not just something he did to mess around with Aspen.

The only real critique that I have of this story is that I feel like so much more could have been done with Ember's bargain with Mrs. Coleman. I really thought they would find her when she was hiding from them and force her to betray Franco or something, but that never happened. It just seems like such a missed opportunity. There was so much tension there that something bad was going to happen because of the bargain and then it was left to fizzle a little. However, even that didn't keep me from enjoying the story and getting caught up hard in the 'will they/won't they' of it all.
